Curro Brackenfell celebrated its grand opening on Friday, 26 August 2016. The event was attended by Curro management, members of the PAC, Dr Gillian Arendse, Curro Brackenfell pupils, parents and staff. Curro Castle pupils, parents and staff also attended the event.
The event was opened with a flag and shield ceremony. Senior pupils carried the South African flag, as well as the school flag, and the house captains carried their house shields representing the blue, yellow, red and green teams. What made this occasion even more special was when the school’s junior and senior choirs sang the new school song for the very first time. The song was written by the music teacher, Ms Myrtle Visser. The school principal, Mr Henk Weyers was also presented with the words of the school song which he can proudly display in his office.
The CEO, Dr Van Merwe, delivered an opening speech and the Principal, Mr Henk Weyers, concluded proceedings with a speech. The group five class of Curro Castle rendered a musical item. Dr Gillian Arendse entertained children and parents alike with his interesting, yet humorous presentation. This special occasion was ended with a wonderful finger lunch.
